Created around the idea of a new beginning and a breath of hope, Primavera, with choreography by Rodrigo Pederneiras, is woven around the music of the duo Palavra Cantada: 14 songs adapted for instrumental performance, in a range of sometimes contrasting musical styles – from light jazz to Afro-percussion. The ballet, born during the pandemic, has the spirit of divertissement; it incorporates – and, in a way, embraces – the prohibitions of that moment: there are solos, duets, trios, quartets in which the dancers do not touch each other, with the exception of three pas-de-deux.
Conjuring up lighter times and seeking the sweetness of the season, the women's costumes, monochromatic – yellows, greens, oranges and reds – feature very light, flowing skirts over tights; the dancers wear fitted t-shirts and classic black trousers. Real-time projections occupy the back of the stage, multiplying and amplifying gazes, gestures and, why not?, the idea of new times.
